आर. के. नारायण (१ 190 ०6 ते २००१) रासीपुरम कृष्णस्वामी अय्यर नारायणस्वामी भारतीय इंग्रजी लेखकांपैकी एक प्रसिद्ध कादंबरीकार होते. ते चौदा कादंबर्‍या, पाच लघु लघुकथांचे आणि अनेक प्रवासी प्रवासांचे लेखक आहेत आणि त्यांच्या कल्पनेनुसार काल्पनिक कथा आहेत. त्यांनी ‘माय डेज’ (1975) हे संस्मरणही लिहिले. नारायण यांनी मालगुडी हे काल्पनिक शहर तयार केले, जेथे सामान्यत: भारतीय शैलीतील वास्तववादी पात्र अप्रत्याशित घटनांमध्ये राहत होते. त्याच्या कथा दयाळू मानवतावाद मध्ये आधारित आहेत आणि सामान्य जीवनातील विनोद आणि ऊर्जा साजरे करतात. त्याच्या कथा साध्या शैली आणि सूक्ष्म विनोदाने दर्शविल्या जातात. मिशिगन स्टेट युनिव्हर्सिटी प्रेसने १ 195 2२ मध्ये नारायण यांची अमेरिकन वाचकांशी ओळख करून दिली. यात ‘स्वामी आणि मित्र’, ‘द बॅचलर ऑफ आर्ट्स’ (१ 37 3737), ‘द डार्क रूम’ (१ 38 3838), ‘एन’ ज्योतिषी दिन आणि इतर कथा ’(१ 1947))),‘ श्री संपत ’(१ 9 9)),‘ आर्थिक तज्ज्ञ ’(१ 4 44), ‘महात्माची प्रतीक्षा’ (1955), ‘मार्गदर्शक’ (1958) आणि इतर बरीच पुस्तके. त्यांच्या ‘द गाईड’ या कादंबरीने त्यांना १ 61 .१ मध्ये साहित्य अकादमी पुर...
